Push The Button
Second gray, cold day in a row. and the trees are a weird mix of peak color (the ones triggered predominantly byday-length) and still deep green (the ones triggered primarily by air/soil temperatures) We got an inch of rain over the weekend, and another quarter inch between yesterday and today, so the drought is not as bad as it has been.
Have I mentioned that I buzzed off my hair for the season on Sunday afternoon? It was part of the post-fam-visit cleanup. Now I’m constantly wearing the sparkly red snood thingie my friend Tess made for me years ago because my hair is short enough I feel the cold drafts.
And did I mention making banana bread? It’s all gone now, but it was very tasty. I used a stick of melted butter instead of oil, and it make the crust amazing. Adding a tiny bit of cinnamon makes a huge difference in flavor.
Yesterday was an “Overslept by two hours, dropped food face-down on the counter, forget to finish anything, get distracted by online drama” kind of day. I still gotmy weekly blog update done and then worked on the long-long-long delayed “I should have my own email newsletter, screw Patreon” project. It appears to be working at last. As soon as I have a P. O. Box (another long overdue project) to put in to satisfy legal address requirements re: not spamming people, (a subject about which I have a whole soapbox full of opinions) then I can start sending out the weekly blog posts direct, as opposed to making Patreon do all the heavy lifting.
And maybe even send the first Quarterly CatchAll post in, um, 11 quarters or so. That’s the plan.
Today I have cut another 5k words from Ghost Town and am puttering with Angry Women Chat About Cats Over Tea tonight in my downtime. That’s it for accomplishments other than paying bills, filing paperwork, brushing the cat, watering plants, changing out air filters, ordering a new water bottle and top so I can keep my non-flavored teas uncontaminated by my flavored teas—and playing games on my tablet.
Next big daunting thing: actually ordering a new computer now that I’ve made the decision on which one (another Macbook Pro) and which model the mid range MPro chip. It was pretty much a given from teh time I knew it would fit in my small day pack, but expensive things will never cease to give me pause.
But it’s time to push that button, dangit.
