Another post already?

What can I say? I like my new blog.

Also, I’ve been doing a lot of things, and life has been highly distracting, so I’m feeling a higher-than average need to write things down so I don’t forget them.

Yesterday was post-publishing-new-website day, so I didn’t have much brain left for creative things. I took a long walk to the new Italian Eatery in our little Downe Towne, and now I have enough leftover pizza for three more lunches. And I did several important writing-adjacent tasks.

First, I checked on the audiobook distribution progress. Vendors are trickling in! Libro.fm, (yes, that’s a live link to the book page, eeeee!) and also Storytel, which is a…Swedish…audiobook site? ANYway. There are product pages in the wild. That makes me happy. Findaway Voices distributes to 38 vendors, including all the biggies, but says pages can take 30+ days to go active. That’s one reason I gave Weaving a “release date” of June 11. I try to only check the Findaway retailer links page once a day. (I bet you know how successful I am about that)

Second, I peeked at the edits to Relics From A Traveling Show. It’s looking good! Not as many content notes as I was worried there would be. Lots of clarifications to make, sections to reword and/or move around, and of course loads of typos and typographic corrections to make. But it shouldn’t take more than a week, if I can focus on it. Big if, yeah.

Third, I got brave and dug into the challenge of importing the old quarterly newsletter’s subscriber list. And it was easy! That means I’ll be writing a Quarterly Catchall soon. Importing the list wasn’t hard, but it did require finding the list, which I downloaded back in January. That search led to cleaning out my Downloads folder, which has become the computer equivalent of a junk drawer over the past 7 years or so.

Fourth, I trashed a bunch of old files from my downloads folder. Was cleaning a computer folder a great use of limited creative work time? I dunno, but it sure was fun. I found a bunch of memes and screenshots and had a lovely walk down memory lane.

Today? Hah. Today started with a panicky “Where’s my tablet stylus gone?” hunt before caffeine. Answer: I left it on the desk at the ‘brar last night. Fab coworkers Bridget & Jimmy tracked it down & set it aside for me—communicating by TEXT, huge hearts to them. Then an hour of driving to a 2 hour ideas meeting to hammer down the scope of Project: Fancify Floor 2 (as opposed to Code Name: Let’s Never Do This Again, which is tangentially related, but only requires scheduling, not blueprints and materials selection etc.) Followed by an hour back.

Then food, trip to the ‘brar for a reunion with my stylus, and a trip to the store for Future Foods. Which meant putting away foods, which of course led to Stress-Cleaning and restocking various kitchen things. Extremely satisfying to have all that done. Clearing the decks is a real coping strategy, at least for me. It’s so much easier to relax and feel playfully creative once I’ve tired out the brain weasels with repetitive, low-stakes, high-visibility-results distractions.

ANYway. Really can’t wait for tomorrow, which I have fully blocked out for writery things. Creativity Work Date for the big win. Now, though, I am big tired and plan to blanket fort with book 14 of C. J. Cherryh’s Foreigner series and then watch the movie Wish, about which I have heard good things and bad.

That’s all except for a last note: scroll down, and you’ll see a cute 'l’il suscription block, where you can enter your email if you were getting this blog by email before and want to continue doing so.

Until later!
