Exciting distractions and more!
I started the previous post talking about the things I’d forgotten in the post prior to that, but only got two of them recorded before I promptly digressed into a grumpy little introspection post. I hereby resolve to Not Do That this time, I promise. So. Overview List first, so if I get too far off the trail, I have a guide back to the original point. Points. Whatever.

Garden: Funny how I never forget to talk about the yard, huh? That’s because it’s summer. I spend hours of my day at the table enjoying the smog fresh air and boiling heat pleasant breezes. The latest excitement? Power pole replacement. Last week our neighbor’s pole got replaced. This week, it was OUR pole’s turn. The pole was actually in our other neighbor’s yard, but the safest/most efficient replacement point was in the back-fence neighbor’s yard, which was basically only accessible via the airspace above OUR garage.
I was most impressed by how delicately the crew maneuvered their Very Large Truck down our Not Large Driveway. Also impressed by their Safety First Mentality and entertaining communications style. Lots of safety check Q&A happened, and the most used ack response was, “Yes, Dad.” It had that practiced call-and-response tone of a long-practiced routine. And yes, I did take pictures. Here are two.
Wide truck. Narrow drive.

Writing: I have put some words into the undefined Izzy & Natalie Rescue Each Other story and made more plotting notes for Treasure Haunt. That’s it. Moving on…
NEW (old) ART PAGES. They exist again! One page for the Restoration series, one page for Rollover. I have more art to add to both pages, but this makes A Good Start, especially considering it’s been years since I pulled down the old janky pages. I’m disproportionately pleased with both layouts. Do the pages look polished & professional? Dunno. Prolly not. I’m not qualified to judge. But I LIKE them.
My next “share more things I love” project is making a big ‘ol thread of those same images on my Fediverse account. Hrrrm. Just belated realized I should figure out how to do the whole Nightshade AI image poisoning thing. <adds it to the list> Anyhow, once again moving on.
July Reading record: I have now reread and/or read all the books in Seanan McGuire’s InCryptid series, which I am blaming for the increase in my dramatic capitalizations. IYKYK.
July Viewing record: I finally finished the Haven rewatch and also wrapped up all the existing episodes of My Life Is Murder. (aka Xena Police Detective) Bad Movie Saturday night this past week included Old Guard 2, Plane, & Aftermath. All were surprisingly better than I expected.
Ta-dah, list done, post done! I have more to share, because I always have more things to share, but they can wait until next time.
And here’s a last pair of pics, just because.
Sunset from my office window a week ago, during Peak Wildfire Smokiness. It was dramatic, beautiful, and deeply weird.
