Helluva day or two or three

Not sure how long it's been since I posted and can't be arsed to check. I've been adulting Very Hard all week, so it feels like forEVER.

On the plus side, I feel like a moderately responsible grownup. On the minus side, there's been zero brainspace for writing creative stuff.

I unlocked a big grownup achievement trophy: I have a will and plans for how to handle my estate. Including my literary estate, a phrase that still makes me want to giggle inappropriately. (I mean, really. Me? Literary? ALL THE LOLS.)

Work, work and more work

The one big drawback is that kinda like taking a class leads to homework, i having an estate plan means I need to organize all the actual stuff covered by the document.

Some of it is fun work. I have to make LISTS. Lots of them. Some of the work is unfun, involving long, complicated printed forms to fill out and making sure tiny details don't get missed. And also shipping things. (Which is to say, I am tackling the long overdue chore of registering copyrights for my six books already in print. This will be a royal PITA. Do I need to do it? Technically no, but yeah, I'll feel better if I cough up the cash for the extra legal coverage that registration offers.)

Still gonna be a PITA.

Other Blah

The last couple of days I've spent an embarrassing amount of time making sure my all my book listings have the current (correct) covers, subtitles, book descriptions, and interior files with the updated cover design info & other small corrections.

It's Rather A Lot. Books In Print, Amazon, Ingram distribution, with separate entries for ebook interior, ebook cover, paperback interior & paperback cover for each. Draft2Digital...I'm ignoring that distribution channel for now. (If a distribution channel never generates any sales, does it really need updating? I dunno. I wish it was a hypthetical question.)

But I digress.

ADHD means I thought I could get all the updating done in one session (of course) but then got interrupted and sidetracked halfway through the process. Which meant I lost track of which books were updated on which platform in which format. Because of course I did.

I (belatedly) have a nice progress list now. With colors. And boxes to check off. I also learned how to get pdfs into a photo program in a way that didn't run into issues with which fonts I have downloaded. And I did a lot of cursing Adobe in particular and greed-driven subscription services in general.

Never fear, I have A Cunning Plan

The frustrating thing at the end of today is that nothing is done. I have to-do lists of LISTS right now. It feels like a mountain of Things is looming at the back of my mind. The more tethers I have to day-to-day reality, the harder it is to slide into Writing Mode.

The happy thing is, I am making progress. And I am itching to write. So Imma give myself two Happy Writing Days for every one of Aggravating But Important Adult Shit. (And one day a week reserved for for the everyday Life Shit)

That feels like an equitable division, and if it works, EVERYthing gets done.

And here's the usuale latest of my books:
